Dr. Chester W. Taylor, III, DVM (Dr. Chet)
Owner and operator Dade City Animal Clinic, has been with this practice for over
38 years. From the age of thirteen, he worked as an assistant to his mentor and
former Dade City Animal Clinic owner, Dr. H. R. Smalley. Dr. Chet graduated from
Pasco High School in 1974 and after attending Pasco-Hernando Community College in
1975, went on the earn his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Sciences in 1977 and Doctorate
of Veterinary Medicine in 1982 from the University of Florida, Gainesville. After
graduation, he stayed on as an intern at the University of Florida in Rural Animal
Medicine for one year. In 1983, Dr. Chet reunited with Dr. Smalley at Dade City
Animal Clinic as an associate, specializing in large animal medicine. After over
thirty years in the same location and upon Dr. Smalley's retirement, Dr. Chet bought
the practice in 1997.
Dr. Chet is a strong supporter of the surrounding communities. He is the Pasco County
Fair Veterinarian, a member of the Pasco County Fair Board, one of the founding
members of the Pasco County Fair Dairy Showmanship Competition and a charter member
of the Pasco County Fair Dairy Committee. Dr. Chet is an annual steer and pig buyer,
a Friend of the Florida State 4-H and supporter of the local high schools' Future
Farmers of America chapters, as well as the annual Little Everglades Steeplechase's
Large Animal and Jack Russell's Veterinarian. Dr. Chet has lectured in many public
venues to include University of Florida in Gainesville, Cattlemen's Association
meetings and various others. With the combined efforts of Chief Dennis Johnson,
Webster Florida Police Department, Dr. Chet contributes his time and expertise to
an annual rabies clinic at the town's fire station. Dr. Chet is also sole proprietor
of Bar-B-Que by Chet-the-Vet, a BBQ catering company he created to cook benefit
dinners and raise money for worthy causes.
Dr. Chet lives in Dade City with his wife, Becky and their four children; Tristan,
Becca, Olivia and Lauren.
Dr. Christy Collinsworth, DVM (Dr. Christy)
Dr. Christy grew up in the rural Tennessee town of Millington. She received her
Bachelor of Sciences Degree from University of Tennessee at Martin in 2000, and
her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from University of Tennessee at Knoxville,
College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004.
Dr. Christy met her husband, Travis, while at college in Martin. They currently reside
in Travis' hometown of Brooksville, Florida with their three rescued dogs: Gracie,
Jebb and Okee. When not "doctoring" animals, Dr. Christy enjoys church, swimming,
canoeing and the great outdoors.
